Terms of Use
These Terms of Use explain the basic rules for installing, accessing, and using RenameClick. By using the app, you agree to follow these terms and to comply with applicable laws when using our software.
1. Acceptance and Eligibility
You may use RenameClick only if you are legally able to enter into a binding agreement in your region. You are responsible for safeguarding your devices and credentials and for ensuring that any use of the app is lawful.
2. Mac App Store Version
The Mac App Store version of RenameClick is a standalone Apple-only product. It does not require or offer a RenameClick account, Clerk sign-in, account portal, or Apple-to-Clerk license linking. Pro access in the Mac App Store version is purchased through Apple In-App Purchase and restored through Apple purchase restoration.
RevenueCat verifies and reports Mac App Store subscription and lifetime entitlement status so the app can unlock Pro features and restore purchases. RevenueCat is not the payment-card processor for RenameClick; Apple handles App Store billing, payment methods, taxes, invoices, refunds, and subscription management.
Mac App Store purchases do not transfer to Clerk, Polar, direct macOS builds, or Windows builds. Likewise, direct-build purchases do not unlock the Mac App Store version. Where applicable, Mac App Store purchases are also governed by Apple's App Store rules and the Apple Standard EULA. These RenameClick terms apply to product use, acceptable use, AI output, file operations, and direct distribution unless Apple's terms control a Mac App Store purchase or refund issue.
3. License and Permitted Use
We grant you a revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use RenameClick for personal or internal business purposes. You may not resell, sublicense, reverse engineer, bypass purchase checks, abuse local or cloud AI providers, or otherwise misuse the application.
4. Plans, Subscriptions, and Availability
RenameClick may offer a Free tier, a Monthly subscription, and a Lifetime purchase depending on platform and distribution channel. Pro access currently unlocks unlimited apply operations for supported rename and move workflows, subject to technical safeguards, abuse prevention, and normal product availability.
Monthly subscriptions auto-renew until canceled through the billing provider for the channel where the purchase was made. Mac App Store monthly subscriptions are managed through your Apple ID subscription settings. Direct-build subscriptions are managed through the direct-build billing portal where available.
A Lifetime purchase is a one-time purchase for the operational lifetime of the RenameClick product on the distribution channel where it was purchased. "Lifetime" refers to the lifespan of the product, not the lifespan of the purchaser. We may update features, impose reasonable usage limits, or suspend access if the product is abused or if a payment is reversed, refunded, revoked, or unpaid.
5. Third-Party Services
We rely on trusted vendors for specific functions. Clerk handles account authentication only for direct macOS and Windows builds. Apple handles Mac App Store billing and subscription management. RevenueCat verifies Mac App Store purchase status, subscriptions, lifetime entitlements, and restore purchases. Polar powers direct-build billing, receipts, and subscription management.
Your use of those features may also be subject to the relevant provider's terms and privacy policies. RenameClick is not responsible for disruptions, outages, policy changes, or discontinuation caused by third-party providers. If a critical third-party service becomes unavailable, we will make reasonable efforts to find alternatives but cannot guarantee uninterrupted service.
6. User-Provided API Keys and Third-Party AI Services
Direct macOS and Windows builds may allow you to optionally use your own API keys for OpenAI, Google, and Alibaba Cloud to access cloud-based AI features. The Mac App Store version does not include these cloud AI providers, cloud provider configuration, or cloud API-key entry.
Your responsibility:
- You are solely responsible for obtaining, managing, and securing your own third-party API keys.
- You must comply with the terms of the AI provider you choose when using that provider through RenameClick.
- You are responsible for all API usage costs, charges, and fees incurred through your API keys.
- You must keep your API keys confidential and prevent unauthorized access to them.
Data transmission: When you use cloud AI features in a supported build, selected document content and metadata may be transmitted directly from your device to the AI provider for processing. That processing is governed by the provider's terms and privacy policy. RenameClick does not proxy or store the content exchanged between your device and your chosen AI provider.
7. Service Continuity and Termination
RenameClick may modify, suspend, or discontinue the product or any part of it at any time. While we try to provide advance notice of significant changes, we are under no obligation to maintain, support, or update the product indefinitely.
In the event of permanent product discontinuation, Lifetime purchase holders are not entitled to automatic refunds from RenameClick unless required by applicable law or, for Mac App Store purchases, by Apple's rules. We may, at our discretion, provide downloadable versions or alternative access methods, but this is not guaranteed.
Force majeure events, including natural disasters, war, government actions, pandemics, or the incapacity of the service operator, may result in product interruption or termination without liability to users.
8. Intellectual Property
All trademarks, branding, and proprietary technology within RenameClick remain the property of RenameClick. Using the software does not give you ownership of any intellectual property rights in RenameClick or the content you access through it.
9. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability
RenameClick is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the product will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, RenameClick and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of files, data, profits, or business opportunities arising from your use of the product.
Our total liability for claims arising from your use of RenameClick is limited to the amount you paid for RenameClick in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, unless a different limit is required by law or by Apple's rules for a Mac App Store transaction.
File rename and move operations may change local data. Always maintain backups of important files before applying RenameClick operations.
10. Free Tier, AI Output Quality, and Review Responsibility
Where a Free tier is available, it is intended to help you evaluate RenameClick's functionality, performance, and output quality before purchase. RenameClick uses Large Language Model technology to generate file naming and organization suggestions.
AI-generated outputs are inherently variable. Results may differ between files or repeated uses, and no AI system can guarantee perfect accuracy. You are solely responsible for reviewing suggested file names, folder choices, and move operations before applying them.
We may change, update, or replace the underlying AI models used by RenameClick at any time, which may affect output characteristics. Such changes do not automatically entitle you to refunds or compensation.
11. Refunds and Cancellations
Mac App Store refunds, cancellations, and subscription management are handled by Apple through your Apple ID and Apple's App Store processes. RenameClick cannot directly cancel or refund Apple App Store transactions.
Direct-build refunds may be considered on a case-by-case basis where required by applicable consumer protection laws or our direct-build billing policy. To request help with a direct-build purchase, contact support with your purchase details.
Dissatisfaction with AI output quality, consistency, or variability does not automatically constitute grounds for a direct-build refund, because those characteristics are inherent to LLM-based functionality and can be evaluated before purchase where a Free tier is available.
12. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of RenameClick after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
